Tunnels

Over the past two days, Ricky has been in school in LA, and I have been forced to drive for the first time in Virginia.  I have driven in Honolulu, from GA to Colorado Springs, through Atlanta and Orlando and never had any trouble, but Virginia has Tunnels.  These are under water tunnels that you have to go through to get in or out of Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and Portsmouth.  These tunnels scare me to death.  At first I made Ricky drive all of the time and I just kept my eyes shut going through these tunnels.
Ricky had to get to the airport and I had to take him during rush hour.  Not only did I have to keep my eyes open for the first time in a tunnel, but I had to drive it.  To make matters worse, this was a tunnel, that first you had to drive over a long draw bridge and then through the tunnel, and guess what was happening that day, yep, stupid draw bridge, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE, was up.  So I sat, in about 6 lanes of traffic, each way, waiting on the draw bridge, so I could finish the bridge and get through the tunnel.  I was pretty sure I was lost anyway and not on the right road, turns out I was on the correct road, just in the wrong lane.  After I got through the draw bridge and through the tunnel, I had one mile to get accross all six lanes of traffic, in my large mini van and get off my exit.
I am pretty sure I will never, ever, drive in Virginia again.  Atlanta is so much easier to navigate.
Emma on the other hand, thinks my yelling and cursing is quite funny and erupts in fits of laughter everytime I start up again.  I am not sure thats a good thing.
Just thought I would share.
Hope your roads are clear and your days are warmer.

Christmas

Well we finally made it to Virginia and it is COLD!!!!  We miss everyone in GA but we are happy to be near our family here.
Christmas was great.  We spent it with the Bowman side of our family.  For a month we were with Ricky's dad and mom and our neices and nephews, Mikey, Christopher, Jackie, and Brittney.  Then their older sister and her son came for two days along with their parents, Mike and Marie.  We had such a great time and can't wait to see them all again.
We are able to spend a lot of time with long missed friends who have now relocated here to Virginia as well as Ricky's parents.  We have also finally gotten our house, which was just built.  Not two days after we moved into our house it started snowing.  Ricky says I can not call it snow because it was not visible on the ground, but I saw snow falling and thats enough for me to call it snow.
Michael has started with a homeschool program here because the school systems are not the best.  He is really liking it and doing well.  Next year we are going to try to get him into a private school system for high school.
Ricky has started back to work.  He is working for the ORSE board at Fleet Forces Command.  He really loves his job and it has allowed him a lot of free time.  He is leaving tomorrow to go to LA for three days to finish up his training and then he will be home for the duration of his tour here.  He is very excited to not be going to sea six months of the year.
Emma is doing well.  We have decided to wait until next year to put her into school.  She has been through so many changes already with the move, we just don't want to push our luck.  She is growing like a week.  She even has enough hair now for a little pony tail on top of her head.
I am posting some pics of the house for everyone to see as well as some other posts.  I will try to update again soon!!!

On the move

Well this will be my last post for a little while.  We are in the hotel now and getting ready to get on the road.  The move is going smooth and Ricky will be home soon.
I had all the boys for Thanksgiving and it went wonderfully.  I really enjoyed spending time with all of them.  We all went to see Bolt in the movies.  Here are some pictures I took while they were here.  I will update more from Virginia!

Some recent photos

On The Road Again

Yes, it is official.  We have orders.  We will be moving in the next month or so, AGAIN.  This time we are headed to the great state of Virginia.  I am not sure if I am excited or not.  I will miss my job, all my friends, and my life here in GA.  On the other hand it will be nice for Ricky to be close to his dad again and to see a new place.  I don't think I would have been happy with anyplace other than Hawaii though.
School is going well for Emma.  She is going full days now.  We love her teacher, Ms Cannady, and both of her para's.  She really loves circle time.  She gets to dance on her knees and sing with the other kids.  She is a little star at her school.  All of the office staff and most of the teachers have to stop in and see her each day.  She loves all of the attention.
Michael is doing well.  He is getting excited about the move and had been online looking up the sea cadet program in Virginia.  He has not decided yet if he will continue with sea cadets or not in Virginia.
Ricky has deployed.  He will be gone through the holidays.  If anyone would like to email him just let me know and I will get you his email information.  I am sure he would love to hear from everyone.
Well, thats all for now, the next time I blog I will proabably be in a new state!

Summer Days

Well, Summer is over and I have not stopped long enough to update our blog.  It has been a wonderful summer but sadly it has come to an end.
We had a great time with the boys this summer, between camps, days at the movies, days at the pool, and afternoons at the park we stayed pretty busy.  They are all growing up so fast.
Kaylin spent most of his time either at the park playing ball or at the pool.  He is now almost as tall as I am and growing faster than I can buy the clothes.  This is Kaylin's first year at highschool and I am so excited for him.  This year he is playing baseball and football.
Michael spent his summer at sea cadet camps, playing ball at the park, and playing xbox with his little brothers.  He just went into the eighth grade and is taking AP classes.  Michael has been such a huge help this summer with his brothers and his sister.
Nolan is playing baseball this year again.  He is making all A's in school and loved his new frogs I got for him and Trinton.  Trinton made the all star baseball team and is still FULL of energy.  They became fast friends with our new neighbor's daughter Brynn this summer and with Seth and Evan, kids of some friends of ours.  They loved their water park birthday they had with Evan at our house with the huge waterslide in the back yard and a water balloon fight.  Each week they got to pick a new movie for us to all go see.  I think that the batman movie was their favorite.
Emma spent her summer at the pool and watching her brothers run around her.  This summer she learned how to take off her socks and chew on her feet.  Emma has now started school and we LOVE her new teacher, Ms Canandy.  Emma loves going to school and Mommy really misses her.
Ricky had a sea time free summer.  It was so wonderful for him to be able to spend his summer with all of us here at home.  Sadly his time off is over and he is going to be gone until sometime in 2009.
I got a call in July from Mrs Lucy, with an opportunity to go back to work as a SLPA (speech and language Pathology Aid) and to work with Interactive metronome, a program that I have been very excited about since Emma started it.  I started working the first of Aug and have loved it.  It has been wonderful working with the kids and getting out of the house.  I am only working two days a week but it has been just what I needed for myself.
Our summer ended with tropical storm Fay.  Although we suffered a direct hit, we managed to chain ourselves down and not blow away.  Unfortunately not everyone was as lucky as we are.  Even though the base shut down w

e managed to stay home and not see much more than broken trees and lots of rain and wind.
Thats it for us for now.  Hopefully I will have much more to update with soon.
